Our Access, Support and Participation Program (ASaP) was created in 2012 to build upon educators’ skills, knowledge and confidence to ensure the meaningful participation and inclusion of all children in their care. This program is open to licensed childcare providers across Alberta.

Why Access, Support and Participation Matters?
Why Join Access, Support and Participation?
Our Access, Support and Participation Program (ASaP) uses a professional learning series and on-site coaching for educators and program leadership teams to adopt the Pyramid Model Framework and learn new professional practices. Teams intentionally target social-emotional learning, embedded curriculum frameworks, cultural recognition and trauma-informed care. ASaP can work across an entire program or with family dayhome agencies as well.
Our program brings together all of the inclusive practices, from universal to individualized, to ensure that all children are meaningfully included.
Paired with an ASaP coach, an identified site lead (early childhood educator) from your centre receives onsite practice based coaching visits to move learning into everyday practices with children.
ASaP supports family engagement which involves cultivating active participation of families in their children’s experiences. We emphasize building collaborative partnerships between families and early childhood programs to support and enrich children's development and learning.
Collaborating with early learning and care program leadership teams to integrate inclusive processes and procedures, ensuring the long-term sustainability of Pyramid Model practices in your program.
The Teaching Pyramid Observation Tool (TPOT) or Teaching Pyramid Infant Toddler Observation Scale (TPITOS) measures the Site Lead’s growth over time. The Benchmarks of Quality (BoQs) tool monitors the implementation of inclusive practices program-wide over time.
ASaP works as a team to support early learning and child care programs. You will have access to a team of speech and language pathologists, behavioral consultants, occupational therapists, social workers, and family navigators.
ASaP will work with leadership teams to access supports for individual children who require intensive support, as well as help with navigation across systems in the community.
Our professional learning within ASaP is focused on best practices to promote social and emotional development and inclusion for all children. We offer our trainings on different platforms to best accommodate the varying needs of participants.
In partnership with the University of Alberta, we ensure the fidelity of ASaP Program outcomes by using data to inform ongoing work.
ASaP’s alumni program includes continued access to professional development and reflective practice meetings, opportunities to participate in group coaching sessions focused on program-wide implementation of pyramid model strategies.
