INCLUSIVE CHILD CARE
The Inclusive Child Care program assists Alberta child care programs and educators to build their capacity and confidence to include children who have extra support needs, increase families’ access to inclusive child care, and prevent the exclusion or removal of children from child care programs.

Why enroll in Inclusive Child Care?
The Inclusive Child Care (ICC) program uses an evidence-based social emotional framework to provide early learning and child-care programs with short-term coaching and professional learning. These supports strengthen the educator’s skills and confidence to ensure the meaningful participation and inclusion of children with disabilities and support needs in their care.
We provide a range of short-term, intensive resources and supports that include
access to on-site, evidence-based consultation to support inclusive program delivery and/or guidance for individualized strategies;
training and professional development delivered with coaching supports to promote capacity building of inclusive practices;
access to funding for short-term engagement supports and resources to support knowledge and skill development;
navigation support for children and families and early learning and childcare programs to ensure access to inclusive early learning and care and appropriate support.
Who is This Program for?
The Inclusive Child Care program is available to licensed child care programs and facility-based programs (preschool, out of school care and family day home programs operating under a licensed agency).
Child care programs must demonstrate that they require support to successfully include a child or children with extra support needs in their program. The application process is completed directly through the Government of Alberta. No referral is needed.
